When Wi-Fi works at reception but fails in a treatment room, start with measurements in the affected area. A faster internet plan cannot by itself fix every coverage problem, and adding access points without checking interference can create new problems.
Separate coverage from connection problems
Ubiquiti’s troubleshooting guidance considers signal strength, interference, airtime use and channel congestion. Record where the problem happens, the device affected and whether it occurs during busy periods. Compare a wired device and a wireless device at the same time to help narrow the issue.
Bring useful information to a survey
- A floor plan showing treatment rooms, reception and network equipment.
- Approximate staff, guest and connected-device counts during peak periods.
- Locations and models of existing access points.
- Examples of failed tasks, times and affected devices.
- Cabling constraints and areas where installation would interrupt care.
Design for the business workflow
The survey should identify coverage gaps and consider interference, cable paths, power and device capabilities. Agree which systems need access to each other and which guest connections should remain separate. Changes should be checked with the software and equipment vendors where required. Do not interrupt clinical equipment to troubleshoot a network without an agreed procedure.
Test before calling the project complete
Walk the affected rooms using representative devices. Check the tasks staff depend on, confirm that guest access stays separate from protected systems and record the final access-point locations and configuration. Keep the result as a baseline for future troubleshooting.
